Daily Prayers

Five daily prayers (Fajr, Zhur, Asr, Maghrib & Esha) is performed with jamaat in the Jamia Mosque.and Azan is said in loud speaker so people can hear in azan radio at their homes.

Friday Prayers & Eid Prayers

Jumma prayers are offered at 1.45pm in the summer time and 1.30pm in the winter times when the clocks go back.  The kuthba is delivered in English to cater for all the needs of the community

Marriage / Nikah

Within the mosque there is an availability of the Imam for Nikah reading and registration ceremony for those who wish to get married under Islamic law. The mosques are open for ceremonies to be held if the people choose to do arrange their Nikah at the mosque.


The mosques offer weekday after school classes for young children to learn and recite the Holy Quran, the classes are as follows:

Quran and Islamic Studies

(1st session) from 4:30pm – 6:30  

(2nd session) 6:30pm -7:30pm

Saturday Classes:

Science, Maths, Islamic Studies and Urdu from 11:00am – 2pm

Dars-e-Quran’ (understanding the Holy Qur’an) session every Thusrday after Esha prayers in the mosque

Ijtema of Zikr-o-Naat every Sunday after 7:30pm

The Mosques also intends inshallah to hold regular key events such as the day of Ashura, Eid Miladun Nabi, Mehrajun Nabi, Shabe Barat, Shabe Qadr, monthly ghayarvien shareef etc inviting leading scholars to give talks on Islam. The purpose is to educate Muslims about Islam.

Funeral Services

We also organise funerals for Muslims of Newport who have passed away from this world. Islamic funeral prayers & Ghusal facilities’ are held in Jamia Mosque and people need to contact Imam or (Funeral Committee) for further information or assistance

Advice & Counselling Service

For those wanting advice or help on any issue surrounding Islam or have a problem to discuss, our Imam is contactable and an appointment can be arranged to offer private and confidential advice and guidance inshallah

 also Jamia Mosque has the following facilities available for its worshippers

 Main prayer hall with a capacity for up to 300 worshippers

  1. Upper prayer hall and lecture room. Capacity for 200 worshippers
  2. Separate praying Hall for Islamic sisters
  3. Library with a large selection of books in English, Arabic, urdu & Bangali.
  4. Fully equipped catering kitchen for annual functions
  5. Management office, storage rooms
  6. Secure car park for 30 cars, including allocated disabled parking space
  7. Newly built centralised wudhu area for men and women including disabled toilet access facilities with a capacity of facilitating up to 20 people at peak times
  8. Accommodation for the imams
  9. Separate classrooms for boys and girls.
  10. large Place for Islamic books stalls at the front of the Mosque.
